ALLSTRIKE is an isometric helicopter shooter in the spirit of the 16-bit classics of the early nineties. You fly a gunship across open maps, pick your own order of targets, and juggle fuel, armor and ammunition while radar sites, SAM batteries, flak guns, tanks, gunboats and enemy helicopters fight back. Between the shooting you hover low and slow to winch up prisoners, downed aircrew and fuel drums, and fly everyone home to the landing zone.
Every mission has a briefing, a map and several objectives: blow up the targets, rescue the hostages, capture the warlord alive. Lose too many of the people you came for and the mission fails, so mind your aim around them, and watch out for the traffic.
Campaigns
Campaign 1 · Desert Storm Front
Five desert missions against the General: radar sites and SCUD launchers at dawn, a burning town, an oasis ringed by SAM sites, an oil field at dusk and a downed transport crew in the hills.
Campaign 2 · Shadow River
Five jungle missions up the Rio Sombra after the arms broker El Cuervo: radio relays in the delta, gunboats and cargo planes on a lagoon, a recon run with a camera pod, his hacienda on the hill, and a last stand at Fort Esperanza.
Campaign 3 · Steel Harbour
A city campaign in Port Aurel, a harbour city taken over by a private army: jammer trucks in the old squares, hostages in the town hall, checkpoints on the bridges, a TV station, flak on the rooftops and container ships in the docks. Office towers stand taller than you fly, so you fly the streets.
Coming next
An arctic campaign, then Tundra Strike.
How to play
- Fuel burns all the time. Winch up red fuel drums before you run dry.
- Armor comes back from blue crates and from every passenger you land at the LZ.
- Six seats. Hover low over people to winch them up, then drop them at the landing zone.
- Three weapons: a chin-mounted 30 mm chain gun, Hydra rockets and lock-on Hellfire missiles, each with its own reach.
- The radio talks you through it. Control and your co-pilot say the goals out loud at the start of every mission, and every call has subtitles.
